5 random facts

hey everyone. i wanted to write a blog post, but didn't know what topic to choose. of course, i asked twitter for help. lots of people said i should do a 5 random facts post, and i thought that was a fun idea. so here we go, 5 random, quirky, silly facts that you (probably) don't know about me!

fact #1:
something that i think i've mentioned before, but for some reason, everyone thinks i'm kidding... is that i LOVE to cook. baking is fun too, but cooking actual meals- ahhh i love it! my favorite one is breakfast. (even though i don't really even like breakfast foods!) i think my favorite part is the preparation of the food. in the mornings, i'll get up and stroll to the kitchen. i'll get all my ingredients out, and let's just say i'm making eggs. so i'll scramble eggs, toast some bread, butter the toast, cut the toast into two triangles, make a fruit salad, and pour a big glass of juice. then, i get out my honey suckle plate and arrange everything perfectly. eggs on the top left corner, toast beside the eggs to the right, fruit salad in a small bowl in the middle. then, i arrange it all at the table. with a fork, knife, and spoon (even if i'm not eating anything i need a spoon for, or fork... ect.) set the plate just right, the cup at the right corner, napkin on my lap. then dig in :) i like eating alone, that way... i don't hear people smacking their food... but more on that later! you might think it's lonely, but it's not! it's relaxing and gets me ready for a big day! BUT... i can only cook in a clean, organized kitchen. i hate clutter on the countertops, or everything randomly being thrown into a cabinet or drawer. i like perfection. that's who i am.
p.s. sometimes, when i cook for friends, they'll say they don't "trust" my cooking, and they'd rather just order something in. when i insist they eat what i cooked, they love it! not to brag, but i know what i'm doing. it really upsets me that people think i'm too idiotic to cook or prepare a meal, i mean COME ON!

fact #2:
animals have a sixth sense. some of you may believe this, others, may not. i am a strong believer in this statement. when i was in sixth grade (haha, sixth grade, sixth sense.. get it?!) i was diagnosed with e-coli 0157-h7. sixth grade had just started and i had moved to a new school, where i only knew one person. ONE! on thursday, the second week of school, i got a horrible belly ache. it was so painful i couldn't see straight, i didn't care what the teacher was saying, and just tried to get through the day without having to call home sick. (i mean, come on, it was the second week of school!) anyways, i dragged myself to my moms car when she came to pick me up and broke into tears. we decided i would go home and get in bed, if it got worse, i'd go to the doctor. the next morning i woke up... and i was fine! no, better than fine, i felt totally normal. i even asked if i could have a friend spend the night. mom said no, since i might still be sick. we dismissed it as a 24 hour stomach flu and decided i was okay to go to school. friday i felt fine, saturday i felt fine, sunday i felt fine... until night came around. the pain came back in the middle of the night and i couldn't sleep. mom sat with me the whole night, trying to get my mind off the pain, reading me magazines and telling me funny stories. when dad woke up he came into my room and told mom to let me stay home from school, and that if it got any worse, take me to the emergency room. mom left me in bed and went to go take her shower and get ready in case we did have to suddenly go to the ER. while she was showering, a white blob of fur strolled into my room. "OH NO!" i thought. you see, that was elle's cat, furball, he was a furry, white persian, and he didn't like me. he was known for attacking my ankles, and biting my elbows. my belly hurt so badly, i didn't want to have to deal with getting up, putting the cat out, and shutting the door. so i just crawled further under the covers, in hopes that he would turn around, and walk out of my room. he didn't. instead, he leaped up on my bed! then he proceeded to lay down right beside me, as close as he could get without being on top of me, and purr. he was purring?! what?! he always did this with elle, but i'm not a cat person, and i always believed that he could sense that. mom got out of the shower and came into my room, she was just as startled as i had been to see furball lying right by me. she walked over to me and was about to press of my stomach (to see if the pain had worsened) and furball snapped at her hand. it was about 5 minutes of trying to get furball away from me so that she could sit with me, but he was NOT having that. he kept purring to me, i felt as if he was trying to keep me calm, while he was hissing at momma. this was NOT normal, not at all. she decided i needed to go into the ER right then, when she said this, it was almost as furball relaxed around her (i know, i know, it sounds CRAZY!) as she helped me to the car, furball walked beside me the entire time. as if to make sure i got there okay. while we were driving away, i glanced out the rear window. furball was in the front window, watching us, he had a pleasant look on his face (which he never did around me!) and almost seemed to be smiling. this was way weird. that 15 minute car ride to the hospital was awful, every second the pain intensified, growing worse and worse. anyways...... to make an even longer story short. i got to the ER and they told me to pee in a cup. by this point i couldn't stand because of the pain, i had broken into a sweat and couldn't help the tears streaming down my face. i had my mom come into the bathroom with me to help me hold up my gown. (yes, a hospital gown, the kind that has a big slit in the back that shows your booty if you don't remember to hold it shut!) while i was trying to pee in the cup, i started bleeding. bleeding a lot! blood was pouring out of my body, YES, from down there! my bottom. (one of the many, NASTY symptoms of e-coli.) mom rushed out to grab some nurses and a doctor. from there it was a very fast blur- scans, cts, needles. i was in the hospital for 2 weeks (a story i might tell another time, but this one is already long enough)
mom and i truly believe that furball sensed something was terribly wrong with my body (lots of people die from e-coli. a little boy my age, in the town next to us had it just before i was diagnosed, and he passed away from it.) if it wasn't for furball, we might not have been in such a rush to get me to the hospital, and if we hadn't, the blood downpour would have happened at my house. with no one there to help us know what to do, or stop the bleeding. your body almost has so much blood, ya know?! you can't afford to loose a whole lot of it, like i was. so thank you, furball. oh! and RIP.
i know animals have a sixth sense, what do you think?

gosh... that's like a story out of a "chicken noodle soup" book. i need to learn to condense my stories!

fact #3:
most of you know that my first birth name is not blair. (which, yes, is what i go by in everyday life.) what you like to think you know, but don't, is that it is also NOT elizabeth. i have not gone by my first birth name for as long as i can remember. in my town, it's not strange or uncommon to go by a middle name or nickname. i've gotta admit that i let out a little chuckle every time someone will comment on a video saying "great video ELIZABETH," because they are obviously trying to be all clever, like they know the truth. when really, it's just plain silly and childish. elizabeth is my middle name, tho. oh, and i also never went by lizzy! that was the name of my teachers tarantula, no thanks.

fact #4:
paci, binky, bo-bo, or pacifier. what ever you'd like to call it. i preferred to call it a "babbi." and i LOVED me some babbis. i will let you all in on a little secret... i sucked on a babbi until i started first grade! i know, i know, embarrassing. but i loved them! for some reason i was obsessive about them. at ALL times i had to have one in my mouth, and at least one in each hand. mom said i used to hide all my babbis, then cry and scream because i didn't have any. so her or dad would rush out to the store and buy some. (i only liked one brand, and color) she said they would buy them by the dozen, because i was so reliant on them. when they would return home with the new babbis, they would give me a couple, probably 4 at a time. and i would snatch them all up, then go get the rest of them that i had hidden! i had a HUGE collection, well, that's what mom and dad told me. they finally made me give them up when i was starting first grade. they said i had to be a big girl. i didn't want to be a big girl. i wanted to have my babbis. but they took em all away, i was devastated for all of 5 hours. then i was fine. i think they let me help mom bake a cake, so i forgot about the babbis. mom said when she was moving houses and packing everything up, she found about 40 babbis in random places, in the bottom of a sugar jar (not one that we used! ew!) in the sofa cushions, stuffed into the back of drawers, EVERYWHERE! so yes, there is an embarrassing fact you didn't know! i loved my babbis till i was 6.

fact #5:
i have a problem. a problem that affects my everyday life. and that problem is-- chewing. i cannot STAND to listen to people chew their food. it is my biggest pet peeve! i can't even stress how much this bothers me. the worst part about it is that even when people know this bothers me, like my family, they try so hard not to make noise while they chew.. but i still hear it. i think i have super hearing, and it's awful. sometimes i can't eat dinner in the same room because i'm so agitated that day. i know it stems from my OCD, but it makes me want to rip my hair out, and slam my head against a wall.
oh, and slurping a drink, lets not get me started on that one.......

so there ya go :) 5 random, quirky, silly facts about me. if you wanna do this tag, write it up in your blog.. then send me the link! i wanna see what your random facts are!

Wow, that Ecoli story is terrible, but its really cool that he could sense that! And same as you, I LOVE to cook too!

spycrush said...

I have super smell which is terrible just as your super hearing! I'm always like, "What's that smell?!" And everyone's like, "What smell?". Also, I always had to have a baby bottle of water in my bed until I was about 6, as well.

Blair, I have the EXACT same problem you have with chewing. I can't eat with my family half the time. Thank goodness the school cafeteria is noisy or else I'd have a nervous breakdown.

Blair I always thought I was so alone.. I totally used a pacifier until I was 8. It was bad. Hahaha but so glad someone else relied on them too because my family makes fun of me still to this day.

OMG! I totally understand the chewing thing. The worst time for me is sitting in a movie theater where other people all around me are chewing and crunching and slurping drinks. I hate when people have something really loud and obnoxious like a candy wrapper that they know is going to make this horrible noise right in the most quiet or intense parts so they rip it REALLY slow and then you are just like come on! Open it already and let's be done with it. I think movie theaters are the places where my pet peeves really come out. People talking during a movie, bringing young children in there, people coming in late and asking you to move over when HELLO, that is why I came on time so I could get MY seat. Ugh, people are the worst! Lol :D

Tell us a story, I know you're not boring. said...

That with the Furball thing (RIP), i believe.

My cat hates me, trust me, she does. But the other day i had a terrable head & stomach ache and felt really bad. Then my parents started fighting and i started crying. Next thing you know, my cat, Sammy, comes up to me looks at me as he was trying to say "Its gonna be alright, Mom!" ( 'cuz im her mom :))

CutiegirlA said...

haha omg i thought i was the only one with tht pet peeve to hear ppl chew! now i know im not the only one! lol! :D

I also believe animals have a sixth sense.. My animals do that all the time.. They can sense things.. Whenever I am crying or are sad, they would walk in my room with their head down and look at my like they are crying too. Its amazing how animals can feel our pain or sense things.

Omg! I SOOO identify with Fact #5! My family thinks I'm just snobby and doing it because I don't like them, but it just really bothers me! I showed this to my family so that they know I'm not the only one with this problem. I sometimes just eat my dinner in my room because I get so annoyed! Good post Blair(:

I believe in animals having a 6th sense to! When I was 7 my dog and I walked into the woods (we knew where we were going) and I slipped and fell into a steep ditch like thing. I broke my wrist and my ankle. My dog KNEW I was hurt. He lightly clenched onto my arm (he is a Bernese Mountain Dog, they are know for pulling things) and he pulled me out of the ditch. From there he started howling, he wasn't going to leave me. And my parents heard him and came and got me. I'm really thankful that he was there with me or I don't know what would have happen. It was snowing outside so I could've gone into Hypothermic Shock or something like that. Lesson learned, never go somewhere when your parents tell you not to!! Love ya Blair! <3

Fact 2- The night my brother was born I was at the circus, litterally. My grandparents knew that he was being bon and didnt even tell me untill just a few weeeks ago, lol.I came home to my mother on the answering machine saying that she had my brother, and for us to come down to the hospital, and that she was fine! that was so exciting for me. I was youtubing and came across one of your videos on the main page,
usually I see a pretty face I'll click to see what its about.

Usually after about 20 seconds I'll close the window from the dreadful commentary,
but for some reason I watched the whole thing about "Inexpensive Prom Makeup Tutorial" and I'm a guy.

It helps that you're Gorgeous and have great facial bone structure, but you have this knack
for keeping people glued when you're in front of the camera. You seem very at ease like a pro,
and many youtube people even after a while don't have the rapport you got.

Keep your options open I think you'll be a great actress or makeup artist in no time flat.

Also I like how detailed and organized you are (I'm a little ocd myself when it comes to clutter),
even when talking about make-up - you're step by step and to the point so that anyone could do it (obviously with lot of practice)

I know I seem to be kissing @ss but I'm just amazed at how mature you are being a teenager and all,
plus you and your sis have your own online biz.

I just have two questions, are you from the Southern United States?
Are you a little bit of a techie, your webcam, pc and your iphone (you even know how many GBs it has)?

Most girls your age are like pixie sticks too much sugar and not much character, So I say bravo and keep it up.

Sandra said...

Ummm, I know your probably gonna hate me, but I'm honestly just curious, so Don't freak out and get annoyed please:

what IS your first given birth name?

There! I said it! I sincerely apologize if my question annoys or irritates you. I honestly don't mean to and it's Totally Fine if you don't answer. I will still love you and you will still be one of my favorite and most talented Makeup Gurus on Youtube, no matter what your name is. Your name isn't what's made you so good with makeup so I think that people shouldn't be all outraged because IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE! As I said before I'm just genuinely curious. Anyways Keep up the good work and I wish you many more succeses in your life!

PS: I think Blair is a great name :)

I know how it is, even when we have like family dinners when all my aunts, uncles and everyone comes together and they all start chewing.. ughhh I go nuts :)

OMG! You cannot stand it either?! people chewing loudly just sets me off. Being in a family with 3 boys im always ticked off at dinnner. I tell them to stop its gross and what do you think they do... exaggerate it more! ahh. that is possibly the biggest pet peeve of mine. good to know im not the only one :)

Five random facts about me:
1. I can't stand and/or undertand things like leaving a light on when you are not in that room or the water running while brushing your teeth when you don't need it. Plus I hate messes!
2. I'm in love and addicted to sunflower seeds, flavour Tijuana from "Pipas G", a brand we have in Spain. I always eat them while watching SYTYCD online.
3. I just sleep with the upper part of the pijamas. I can't sleep with something covering my legs that are not the blankets. Luckily, I've heard this is really good for circulation and for prevent future veins popping out of your skin, you know...
4. I bought a pair of jeans in December that fitted me well and a month later they suddenly were like two more sizes... Funny thing, it says "slim fit" in the tag"
5. The weather totally influences my mood. We've been like a month without seeing the sun here and I really didn't feel like doing anything...

that story about the sixth sense on animals was so cute yet scary! im so glad you were helped on time & glad you had your pet, i heard that cats know when someone is near death and they lay beside them at the time of the persons serious illness, mainly in hospitals they tested this out. but thankfully you are okay blair :)

You're so cute, Blair. I love your videos, and I've had fun reading your blog. I have the same problem as you. People smacking, or even chewing drives me insane. Especially with chips. I can't even be around my husband when he eats chips. It's the worst. I love that you started a blog! That easier for me to follow than youtube since I'm on here more. Keep blogging!

Gabrielle said...

Do you actually have OCD? You've mentioned it before but a lot of people use it as an expression that doesn't really mean anything.

I've read that cats have special disease-sensing powers though. Like there was one cat at nursing home who would lie on people's beds and shortly after they would die! I know, creepy right? Haha.

I can't stand listening to people chew either! It grosses me out!!! When i go to fast food restaurants with my boyfriend I have to turn up the music in the car so I can't hear him chew. Otherwise I will loose my appetite and want to throw up. haha.

Hi Blair! I'm a long-time subscriber of your videos (username: bearseries), and I can't believe all this time I didn't know you like to cook! omg.. i hate hearing people chew too... like... i won't even stay at the table if everyone is eating and no one is talking. because it bothers me that badly. my brother is the worst because he's not polite at all, and he'll like talk with his mouth full.. but when he eats his teeth click together, no matter what he's eating.. and it's just gross because he takes such big bites that it seems like there is too much food in his mouth.. sorry this is really gross.. i'll stop. I love your Vlog... and Tutorials...and now of course your Blog.

Oh my goodness, Blair. I'm right there with you on the whole smacking food thing!

Although, I don't really know where my annoyance comes from. I'm not OCD or anything.. I don't know. But yeah I'm the only one in my family who has troubles with it and alot of the time they just make fun of me for it although I can't control it! The instance I hear someone smack their food I just feel like I want to go bang my head on a wall, too(haha). But yeah then my family gets mad at me when I ask them to stop but it's definitely hard because you can't control that it annoys the crap out of you! I'm just happy to have found someone that shares my pet peeve! You're lucky though, because you're home-schooled. In my high school, people can chew gum whenever they want and during class it's SO FRUSTRATING! you can't just turn around and be like "can you please stop smacking and popping bubbles in your gum?" because thats just weird and out-of place and the person will probably think your psycho. It's really hard to take tests and write essays while someone is smacking the crap out of their gum over your shoulder.

Anyway. Just, yeah. I'm happy to have finally found someone who is like me in this way!:)

I also believe animals have a sixth sense too. A couple yrs ago my grandmother on my dad's side had surgery on a leg of hers. She stayed with my aunt (dad's sister) and uncle who had a little dog. This little dog followed her everywhere while she was there. Whether she was resting watching tv, laid at her feet in bed at night and even when she'd go to the bath room the dog would wait for her outside the door. Once we were there visiting and the little dog licked some bug bite wounds from my mother's leg.

Hey Blair,
I can totally identify with the paci fact. I sucked on mine until I was 10!!! TEN!! OMFG! I loved them so much!! And I HAD to suck them upsidedown so the flat part was touching the roof of my mouth. I was wierd so don't feel bad about your story. I also hate people smacking their lips. Also I am kinda OCD too because I hate germs and I won't eat off of anything unless I know that it is clean...it bugs me sooooo much. Love ya Blair! Oh and just ignore those nasty rumors about your name and blah blah blah. You are amazing and they are just jealous that they aren't as talented as you. Whatever you name is, is your business and it is definitely not important to us so keep your identety safe. :] Ok Blair have a great day!! Much Love <3

i belive animals have a sixth sence too.
I had been feeling really sick for a few weeks, eventually it was a struggle just to get out of bed. One day i was home alone and i passed out in my room. my dog somehow knew that there was something very wrong with me,
he pulled a blanket off my bed onto me to keep me warm, and ran to my neighbours house. He barked and barked until someone finally heard him.
They took me to the hospital and did many test until they found out i had leukemia.
They said if he hadnt found me then i probably would have gone into a coma, or died.

The same kind of thing happend to a little boy in my ward. His dog found him too.

(blair, please donate to cancer reasearch. even if its just one dollar. we could be just a dollar away from the cure. thankyou)

Joey said...

Hey Blair,
about your hatred of people chewing, i have the same problem with hearing people chewing and a few other sounds like people breathing etc. sometimes it's bad enough that i get really angry and have even ended up in tears. I recently found out it was a condition called selective soft sound sensitivity syndrome and chewing is a very common hate for people with this. It is thought to be linked with OCD but its not certain.
Just thought you'd like to know what it was called so you could research it or try and get help if you wanted
lots of love

Blair-

I can't emphasize how much I admire the fact that you it's aren't afraid to talk about the details of your illness. I stumbled upon one of your tutorial videos recently on Youtube, and I was so impressed by the way you carry yourself, that I wanted to hear more of what you had to say. I must say, you have quite a following, and many young girls look up to you the way they do Hollywood celebrities. Most people who are in the spotlight mention their lives' battles with the purpose of envoking the pitty of the public, and they wouldn't dare go into the less-than-glamorous details that are a fact of human existance. On a side note, it is very good to hear that you have made a full recovery from 0157:H7. (For those who don't know) The problem that we often encounter with that strand of E. coli, particularly in children, is that it very often causes long-term renal (kidney) damage (the kidneys generally take the harshest beating in the presence of verotoxin - the toxin released by the strand of E. coli you had), and its younger victims very often end up on dialysis.

I wish you all the best in your endeavors, Blair Fowler, and I know you will go very far.

I know exactly what you mean about animals (especially cats)! I have three kittys and they know EXACTLY when I feel bad. Not only the life-threatening kind but also everyday. For an example:
It was summer and I was 8. I was running around the terasse wich went down to the lawn. I jumped down the step and galloped around the (slightly wet) grass but as I jumped back up again I sliped. I fell over backwards, my lower back hitting the edge hard. Imediatly my cat Filou made a bee-line for me. Now the problem was that my {muscle that moves your lungs}had crampt up and I couln'd breathe out. I was franticly trying to breathe in even FARTHER. All that time Filou was rubbing my legs as if saying: "Relax. Relaaaaax" (that is the only thing that workes if your {insert name here} is cramped). After about 40 sec I finally managed to breathe out and all was good. But my point is that Filou KNEW I was in trouble :)
