With fall quickly approaching us, I have a question I've been dying to ask you guys. Dark nails - Yay or Nay? (Yay meaning you love them and/or would wear them. Nay meaning you don't like the look of them.) Personally, my favorite part about the colder seasons is the scarves and dark nail polish.. OH, and the cranberry lips :) Anyways, I have currently been rocking "Lincoln Park After Dark" by OPI on my nails and I have to ask.. Do you like the dark nail trend?
Some may argue that it's either too "emo," "dirty," or just plain ugly - but I love the look of it on short, squoval nails. I prefer not to do black, but opt for a dark purple or deep blue. I talk about trends in my videos a lot and always get people asking me why I'll only wear dark nails in fall/winter or why I like following clothing trends so closely. I can't really explain it other than the fact that this is what I love. I love the beauty and fashion industry (obviously!) and while I like knowing that I'm one of the first ones rocking a new trend, I get even more joy out of knowing that I can deliver certain trends to my viewers first who may not know about them otherwise. That being said, if you are someone who sets their own trends.. more power to you! When I was in eighth grade I would wear different earrings every day. Like a hoop in one ear and a feather earring in the other. Some of my friends started doing it too, but what they didn't know is that the only reason I did it was because my ears were pierced differently and when I wore matching earrings you could tell my ear holes were uneven. Anyways, to get back to the trend point, I really enjoy following the trends... but I also think dark nails really look good in fall and winter. Then I can wear bright colors in spring and summer :)

i've never worn black nail polish in my entire life! i don't really do dark nails because i have bad cuticles but i like deep colors if that makes sense. maybe i'll try making the dark colors work this fall! i loved your fall everyday makeup routine last year so much that i got captive lipstick by mac for my birthday! :)

dark nails are definitely a yay!!! maybe it's just me but i think they make my nails look so much longer than they actually are. i've been wearing brown on my nails for a couple weeks and i absolutely love it!

I love the trend of dark nails! i wear them all the time in winter/fall and sometimes even in spring or summer when i'm in the mood. i don't think they look emo at all i just like how they look and if you still rock fun and flirty trends in your clothes and makeup then they don't look goth or anything at all!
Definitely yay! Dark nail polish colors can give a great accent to the whole look.
i love it! my favorite right now is "Russian Navy" by OPI...its a dark navy blue but with a slight sparkle/purple tone to it...beautiful!
Dark nails are definitely a fall must have, along with the ability to wear a red/cranberry lip, smoky eyes, heeled boots and warm accessories! Love following trends as inspiration for my wardrobe choices, but I also love to be different and girly all the time. Thanks for the great blog post! Absolutely a yay! I love having dark nails and I feel like they chip less than lighter colors. I just got a manicure on Thursday and got a dark purple color and I absolutely love it. I wish I had checked for the name but I'm sure when I go shopping I'll be able to tell which OPI it is. For me, it wouldn't be fall and winter without my dark colors!

I love dark nails, especially for fall/winter! They have to be short though. I'm really into deep greens/emeralds, purples and blues. I just gave myself an at home mani-pedi using China Glaze Emerald Sparkle. Totally love it!

i actually vote nay for dark nails.I feel since so many people wear darker clothing colors in the fall, dark nails might be well to..dark =)! so i like maybe wearing a bright red or a nice hot pink that looks great with my black turtleneck or a dark outfit. it adds color to nay outfit that people might wear in the fall time. so i think you should start a new trend of wearingfun colors in the fall!

I love dark-ER nails, but not dark nails. I ADORE deep burgandies and purples - but I think it's important to be able to determine the color from far away. Because if everyone thinks you're wearing black, what's the point?

For sure a YES from me! On short nails though, on long nails I'm not as huge of a fan. I love a deep purple (almost black looking) on short nails. I don't find it "emo" at all, and is actually quite fashionable.
I don't follow nail trends, I wear what I like but I do have a soft spot for dark polishes. My only rule is that they should be worn with short nails. It looks awkward on long nails. I'm wearing China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Yes! Love short, dark nails. Though, I am not a fan of blue or nail polishes - of any shade (light or dark)! For dark nail polishes, I stick to dark purples.

Well for me sincey skin's a light olive I find that when I wear black nailpolish I look somewhat greenish (in my opinion though no one else sees it!) But when I wear a dark red I absolutely adore the coloring! Purples are okay for me but I always like putting a glitter (like the big circular multi-colored and silver ones because for some reason it reminds me of like a really pretty night sky with stars. A little long winded but that's my opinion. (In short YAY!) :)

My nails are almost exactly like the ones in the pictures; skinny and long. I really don't like short nails so I keep mine at a decent length; not too long, not too short.
I say yay for dark nail polish but sometimes, even if it may be a "fashion faux pas", I go for a medium/bright color just to switch things up a little. =)

I looove nailpolish, and I go crazy with it. I'm the weird girl that wears limegreen (!) nailpolish to school. I like it, it feels like I'm standing out without having bright green eyeshadow on or something like that.
But I love dark nailpolishes for fall/winter. I wear a lot of dark reds/purples/blues but also green and brown. I actually have no problem wearing black nailpolish, I do it all the time.
I LOOOVE OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark. Haven't gotten a chance to buy it, though.... It's so expensive in my country :(

one of my fave things about fall is all of the dark nail polishes. :) if done correctly, they can look pretty sophisticated. i really like OPI's black cherry chutney, and i recently bought 5 nail polishes from china glaze's vintage vixen collection. you should do a video on your favorite fall nail colors!

I think dark nails are a yay, they look super cute and girly and although they are darker than your usual bright nail polish you have a lot of variety. For example you can wear bright colours, but by darkening them. The only disadvantage really for dark nails is that when you chip them it's much more noticeable, oh well.

Oh I ADORE dark nails! My absolute is Nubar's 'Chocolate Coffee Bean'. It's this gorgeous chocolate shimmery brown and it's just so gorgeous! In fact, the whole of the Nubar Chocolate Truffles collection is just gorgeous for this trend. I also adore 'Lincoln Park After Dark', of course! Kind of a classic!

Love the post Blair!! I adore the dark nail in fall trend, but I wear dark nails year round sometimes, it all depends on my mood. This fall my go-to non-black nail polish will be Rimmel's 60 Second Nail Polish in Night Before, it's a gorgeous saturated purple that looks absolutely beautiful, but I'm on the lookout for more dark non-black nail polishes. And to keep dark polish from staining my nails I use the Rimmel Pro Base and Top Coat on my nails before painting, it really prevents stains and makes the polish last longer.
I like dark nails in every season of the year, when they are short (not long). I think they look great. I prefer to use dark reds for my nails, though.

Dark nails are cute on short nails, but they look creepy on long nails, like the ones you showed in the pic. And I don't like plain black nail polish either- it looks bad on every nail shape.

for me it depends........if you have a dark color that matches an outfit then i think thats really cute but if youre just wearting dark colors to wear it.....i think it doesnt look that good.....im more of a pink person soo i lyk bright colors better!!!
I've just written a post on my Barry M nail polish collection and the dark ones are definitely my favourite, as long as theyre on short nails. It looks too gothic when your nails are long :)

I do like dark nails. I tend to love unique dark colors, especially dark purples, greens, and blues. However, I don't wear dark nails too often. I'm pale and I feel like dark nails are really distracting and make you look more pale. It also is not very professional most sectors. So, I will use different shades of pinks and purples ALL DAY until late October. Then I only wear dark nails when I'm going out at night or if it works with my outfit. I also keep my nails shorter in the fall/winter because I think long nails and dark colors looks gross. Good thing I love painting my nails because I usually do it several times a week!
i think its very appropriatee for a girl to wear dark colors in the fall and winter, and light colors in the spring and summer.
For the beginging of the fall i usually start off with a dark red brown color, or a dark cranberry.
I usually wear lincon park after dark in the winter, or middle of fall.
but for now i would go with a dark red brown color.

YAY! I paint my nails 2-3 times a week and I love to rock all different shades of dark during fall/winter! OPI is my favorite and I love the colors "lincoln park after dark" "lincoln park after midnight" "siberian nights" "black cherry chutney" "opi ink." and "romeo and juliet"! I absolutely love the Kardashians and they always wear dark colors and I feel like wearing dark polish is an easy and inexpensive way to copy their look :)

I'd say yay, but like you, I'll wear dark colors only on fall/Winter. I really like the dark red I bought while I was satying in NY, and I own a dark purple and a dark blue which looks gorgeous !!I also used to wear black a lot when a was younger, but I believe I was on my rebellious mode... I love the dark and deep colors. I too could never do black but I love the blues, purples, and reds.
It's absolutely a go! In the fall your skin is paler than in the summer and why not accentuate that! Pearly skin in the winter is just as beautiful as glowing skin in the summer! Plus, it shows that you spend enough time on your body to keep your nails clean and beautiful.
Another color set I think is good for autumn are the warmer fall colors like burnt orange or old brick red. They match all the leaves changing on the trees and bring a little light to what might be an overcast or snowy fall day.
Dark nails give a very feminine outfit a really edgy twist most of the time.. plus i find it pretty mysterious :)
Yay, they can be so elegant. Of course you just don't splash on some black nail polish and that's that. I usually go with dark plum or dark blue. People love it. I guess it depends on whether you know how to wear them.
I like the look of dark nails, just not on my super pale skin! I think if you are dark enought it's a great trend to wear. For me, I love to wear nude or jewel tones on my nails, but no really dark colors that look black. ( : So pretty much a YAY!
