I Don't Like It: L'Oreal Eye Makeup Remover

Hey everyone! Many of you may have seen my sisters "I Don't Like It" video where she reviewed a product she, obviously, didn't like. She has started a new series on her channel and does mini-videos on products she bought, but later regretted. I don't want to steal her thunder, or marvelous idea, so instead of doing videos on my channel, too, I'm just going to write up a blog post on any products I feel don't make the cut. Say hello to my new blog series, "I Don't Like It: (Insert Product Name Here.)" Oh, and I give Elle all credit for coming up with the idea and name :)
Todays victim? The L'Oreal Eye Makeup Remover, I purchased mine at Walgreens for $8.99, but you can find them online for around $6.00. While I was in NYC for Fashion Week, I took along my beloved Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover ($26.00). Somehow, when we were packing up the hotel room to catch our flight which we were running late to, I managed to forget my eye makeup remover! (Along with my skinny bow waist belt!) Once I was home, I realized I didn't have my eye makeup remover with me and made a mental note to pick up a new one at Lancome whenever I was in a department store. Turns out, I hit up Walgreens first and decided to save some cash, and pick out a new eye makeup remover.

Insert the L'Oreal Eye Makeup Remover. It was sitting on a shelf all by itself, which made me feel like it must be a good product if there's only one left, and it was even in a blue bottle! (The Lancome one is in a blue bottle, too. I knew it must be fate.) I glanced at the $8.99 price tag and decided to give it a go, hey, it beats having to fork over $26.00 for the Lancome one - plus, I wouldn't have to drive to the mall now. I eagerly took it up to the counter to pay for it, along with other items of sheer bliss, like false lashes!
That night I was getting ready for bed and set out my cotton balls, cotton swabs, and new found "hopeful" love. I saturated a cotton ball first, then set it on my eye for a good 7 seconds to give it time to break up my mascara and eyeliner, err... particles? When I went to wipe the makeup away, I realized my makeup had only smeared, but was still on my eyes. I went in again with a different side of the cotton ball, and held it on for 10 seconds this time. Still, no good. Getting frustrated, I decided to go ahead and wash my face, then I would try again to get my eye makeup off, since my face wash doesn't do a great job at that. After I washing my face twice, (the first time is to remove my face makeup, the second is to cleanse the skin) I dipped a cotton swab into the bottle, and tried to clean up underneath my eyes. Still, no luck. I settled on giving up and went to Elle to borrow her Lancome one. The next night, I decided to give it one more go. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch.

My final conclusion is that the L'Oreal remover is water in a blue bottle. That's the only possible explanation for why it wouldn't remove my eye makeup at all. This makes me a little sad, since I was excited to find a less expensive version of my true love, but in this case.. maybe you should pay a little extra for a product that does the job right.

So tell me, what's your favorite eye makeup remover? I'd love to know if you have found a drugstore one that works!

-Blair.

I love Neutrogena eye make up remover. I think it works really well.

Not sure if it would count as a drugstore product (it's $18.95 a bottle) but I swear by The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover.

I used to use Ponds makeup remover cream on my eyes and then wipe it off with tissue, but then a friend told me about Almay eye makeup remover pads and they work great!

I love Neutrogena eye make up remover. I think it works really well.

I actually use Vaseline.
I just take a q-tip and tab some Vaseline after I have washed my face and it takes of my eyeliner and mascara so nicely.
If you just dab a tissue on it after it leaves no greasy mess and leaves your skin feeling soft plus its cheap and lasts forever!!

I use this one as well and I totally agree, It doesnt work as well and as I use quite a bit of mascara then I really need something good. Im just going to use this until it runs out which wont be long as you have to use tons of it then I think ill invest in a decent one. Its really cheap here as well in the uk. I think I paid about £2.50!!

I've tried the green one of the Loreal remover and it's awful, it felt so scratchy and I had to keep wiping it away.
But my favorite is Neutrogena eye makeup remover. It is so soft and only like 5 bucks!

The l'oreal makeup remover worked great for me in the past but about 2 years ago i switched to the neutrogena makeup remover wipes and i still use them; there are 30 wipes in a pack and i think they are the best!! (i use the blue pack) i buy 4 of them at a time from BJ's and it's about $14 for all 4 packs! cheap and awesome :)

me favourite eye makeup remover is by yeves rocher ( it's the Demaquillant Douceur yeux )
you can get it online or in any yves rocher store!

I use one which is a UK drugstore's own brand (No. & from Boots) and I actually prefer it over Clinique's one. It's one of those that you shake to mix the blue & clear together. It's amazing, I always still have my contacts in when I remove my eye make-up and it doesn't irritate at all.. which is probably why I end up going to bed with my contacts still in so often! Boots always have offers for their No. 7 brand (£5 vouchers or 3 for 2) so you can pick it up for quite cheap (it's normally £7.50). I think they ship internationally. Got 5 stars on the website.

I really enjoy the neutrogena makeup remover wipes. They work good for my face and eyes and smell great! I get the deep clean ones in the orange pack!

I've been using ALMAY Eye Makeup Remover Liquid for the past couple years now. There used to be only one formula, but now they have "oil-free" and "moisturizing" formulas. I'm currently using the moisturizing one and it takes off mascara and eyeliner quickly.

I use the equate eye makeup remover and it works great for me and I love it and you can get it at any drugstore for I think 5.99 and it's one of my favorites.

I use nivea waterproof eye makeup remover, and it works really well for me. I don't know if you can buy this in the USA because I live in the Netherlands. But it's not a 'water consistency' it's more like milk..? If you know what I mean :) but it works great.

i use an eye makeup remover that is drugstore! you can also use it for your face makeup. I used the L-Oreal one for a few weeks and hated it, it burned my eyes as well !!! :(

Anyways, I use Olay daily facials and they are these cleansing cloths that really work. all my makeup is gone. and to save a bit more money (since I'm a college student) I cut them in half horizontally and it gives me more bang for my buck. hope that helps!

My favorite makeup remover is Baby Face from Lush !
I absolutely love it ! You should try it ! =)

The best eye makeup remover from L'oreal is the one that's meant for waterproof makeup. However, I swear by Garnier Fresh Essentials eye makeup remover. It's great and in a good price category!

I use Shu Uemura cleansing oil to clean my face which gets rid of all my makeup but occasionally there is some stubborn mascara or waterproof eyeliner that likes to stick around. If that's the case I will use the Maybelline makeup remover which I think works better than any of the other drugstore brands.

I absolutely loooove the Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover from Nivea Visage. It doesn't irritate your eyes but gets even the heaviest eyemakeup of with few swipes. :)
It's also really cheap where I live (Iceland) but Nivea Visage is only available on drugstore.com

i agree with you, this eye makeup remover doesn't remove makeup at all !!
you should try the gentle eye makeup remover from nivea, it's amazing! : )

I usually use garnier skin naturals ... it's a light green bottle and it has something with grape extract or what... it's good for makeup but I don't like removing my mascara with it... for removing my mascara I love to use my moms (I know :D) La Roche-Posay micellar removal gel "Rosaliac".

I love using extra virgin olive oil. It's good for your skin and works better than my Covergirl makeup remover. Even though it's an oil, it won't clog your pores.

I hate it to. My absolute favorite makeup remover (eye and face) is PONDS cold cream. You smear some all over your face and then take a towel or tissue and take the cold cream of (kind of like rubbing but you don't need to put any pressure on your skin). PONDS is a brand my great-grandma, both of my grandmas, all of my aunts, my mom, and my cousins use. It's a family thing. You can get a small bottle to try it out for $4.99 at Walgreens, or a large bottle for (i think) $8.99. PONDS also has the best moisturizer on the planet.

I use wal-mart brand (equate) make-up remover wipes. they are amazing!
i used to use just soap, but got tired of scrubbing so hard.
I've also tried MAC eye make-up remover, which was awesome but way too expensive for how long (or short) it lasts!

Aly said...

omg, yeah, that l'oreal makeup remover is horrible! I found that the l'oreal waterproof one was awesome! Another one that is great is marcelle :)

Cheryl said...

Extra Virgin Olive Oil works wonders, and it's only a few bucks at the grocery store! It also is completely natural and has omega 3 fatty acids which helps condition your eyelashes and keeps skin soft and supple. :)
The only thing is you gotta be careful to keep it out of your eyes, or your vision may get blurry for a while.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes!! I also like the maybelline ones!

I am so glad that you reviewed this product. I have picked it up on multiple occasions and sat it back down. I'm so glad that I did so!

Do NOT purchase the Rimmel brand eye makeup remover. It is just as bad. It is like water in a bottle. I only went for it because it was the cheapest one I could find.

I have not tried the NYC one but i'm sure it would be the same.

My best like so far has been with the ULTA brand but it was slightly water and takes a while to get it off..so really it is no better.

My favorite has to be the Clinique one but I just had the price tag and the oiliness of it.

I have heard great things about Neutrogena so that may be the next one I go to purchase.

I love Mary Kay eye makeup remover or Urban Decay makeup remover! Both work extremely well!

Carolanne said...

I use Pond's Deep Cleanser & Make-Up Remover: the cool cucumber classic. It's the cold cream with the green lid (more specified to remove makeup), not the blue. The best I've ever used. There are two sizes. I just bought 2 (BOGO @ CVS!) 10.1 oz. jars for around $9.00. =] Takes off ALL my eye makeup faster than anything. And you don't even need cotton balls/q-tips! Just get a little dab with your finger, gently massage it on your eyelid/lashes, and wipe off with a tissue. You should definitely try it out!

Clodagh said...

i use 1 called fresh essentials by garnier, it works well for me! although i used 1 from nivea once and it was good too, except the scent form it was a bit overpowering for me, as the garnier 1 has a gentle scent, actually it kind of reminds me of fix plus from MAC, scentwise lol

I use Mary Kay Oil free eye make-up remover. OMG it works so good!

MAC cleanse off oil and MAC wipes are the best!

for high end, i absolutely love clinique's take the day of eye makeup remover..its sooo amazing!!!

I tried the Neutrogena wipes, and they work GREAT! and i also really like the Equate Facial Cleansing Towelettes. I didnt think they would work since they were so cheap but they are great at removing everything.

i hate wearing makeup because its so hard to take off, and with just a few wipes with these and it was all gone. even my waterproof liquid liner.

the pack of 60 is like 4.50-5.50 and a pack of 120 is like 6.50

I have been using "Eminence Herbal Eye Make-up Remover" for over a year now, probably gonna stick with it for the rest of my life too <3

Mary Kay has the best eye makeup remover...it doesn't pull out your lashes or tug.

Rylie said...

The green bottle that is oil based is definitely ALOT better than the blue bottle. I believe I found them for the same price at Walmart. Is it totally awesome? I don't know, I haven't tried enough eye makeup removers to know, but it definitely gets the job done within a 3-4 swipes. I think it's comparable to Boot's eye makeup remover, which is also oil based. I quite like the Boots one too, it's cheap, easy to find, and it gets the job done!

I use Micelle Solution Sensibio H2O by BIODERMA laboratoire dermatologique, it cleanses, removes make-up, soothes, it really works, it cost about 20 dolars i think. You could buy it in pharmacy(my mother works in pharmacy so I have tried a lot of products like Vichy...), but I'm from Europe so I don't know if you have these marks in America. Thank you for a good tip, bye

I use Lancome too, but I've had my bottle for years upon years because my face wash gets my make-up off 99% of the time, which I love. You should try Purpose face wash if you haven't already. I have very oily and acne prone skin. I love it and I have been using it forever. I've been on Acutane (which worked, but that was in 9th grade - I'm 26 now), have tried proactive (didn't work for me), and have been on every topical cream and anti-biotic for acne under the sun.

I've also heard vaseline works wonderfully if you are looking for a cheaper alternative.

I love Neutrogena eye makeup remover wipes. They work perfectly. But it is true you can use baby oil to remove any makeup on your face. My best friend is a drag queen and he has to use baby oil to take off the layers of makeup. Plus if it gets in your eye it doesn't hurt because it made to be used on babies!

riley said...

I also use lancome remover! its amazing so i say stick to it! <3

Try the neutrogena eye makeup remover. Its the only one i've found that completely removes waterproof mascara.

my FAVORITE makeup remover is the Pond's Cold Cream. it is SOOOO creamy and amazing and it works terrifficly!! it make your face feel sooo soft too. i'm not sure how much it is, but i'm sure it's not much. you should definitely get it!!! i use it to wipe off all my makeup, then rinse my face off and pat dry. just fabulous!

I use "Bebe" eye makeup cleaner available in Austria and Germany by Johnson&Johnson. Cheap and effective... I wear contacts and I am confident about using it!

i use the clinque eye/lips/face makeup remover. its works sooo well for me! you can buy it at a clinque counter and its in a purplelish-lavender bottle. please buy this, i think its $17 so cheaper than your lancome one, and works great!

Kellee said...

Try the Almay one! It works well, is hypo-allergenic, and they don't test on animals like L'Oreal does! :)

I love Clean and Clear Eye Make Up Remover. It removes the make up well, leaves the skin feeling so soft, and not harmful to your eye if you get some in it! <3

Hi! My English is not very well, because I'm Dutch, so I'm sorry for that ;). Anyway, I totally agree with you. I tried that one too and it totally sucks. You have to try that other one from L'oreal with oil, because that one really works! For me anyway, everything (even the blackest black ;P) goes away. I really recommend that one!

Mine is Boots Botanics eye make up remover. I'm pretty sure you can only get it in the UK, but it's an oily one, and you shake it up and it works a treat. It has Icelandic moss in it, and I'm attracted to exotic ingredients...and if they're Icelandic, even better! haha.

xoxo

I've been using Neutrogena's Eye Makeup Remover Lotion. I know, lotion for your eyes sounds scary, but it actually works really well for me! I use two little squirts (washing my eyes between each one) to successfully rub off my impossible-to-get-off CoverGirl LashBlast waterproof mascara, MAC fluidline, and any other eye makeup I'm wearing. Give it a try!

Anonymous said...

i love love love the clean and clear soothing eye makeup remover. it is oil-free which is one of the main reasons why i love it. the makeup dissolving wipes, also by clean and clear, are very good as well...hope this helped.....

I like the Sephora makeup remover.

Maria said...

Lancome's Bi-Facil is my favourite too but I found a close second.

It is also L'Oreal but it is called gentle waterproof eye makeup remover. It is in more of a clear, square bottle and is similar to Bi-Facil because it has the two layers of liquid, a blue one on top and clear one on the bottom.
The only problem I have with it is that when you shake it, the liquids don't stay mixed together for very long so you need to pour it very fast after shaking it otherwise you end up getting one of the liquids over the other.
For the price, it is a good alternative though.

Unknown said...

Yeah, the L'Oreal one is terrible, it does nothing. Try the Rimmel one. I love it.

Hey Blair

First of all, I'm so excited that I can finally post a comment for something since I don't have a Twitter account or YouTube account!!! This probably won't happen, but it would make my life if you could possibly respond to this or give me a shout out.
Second of all, for 5 years, i've been using the Neutrogena Oil-Free Makeup Remover (comes in a blue cylindrical bottle) and i think it works great. I just put some on a cottonball and run it under warm/hot water for a sec. AMAZING.

Anonymous said...

Blair,
You would want one most similar to the Lamcome one, which I believe has a sort of oil-looking part and then a liquidy part.

Neutrogena (Gentle Oil- Free eye makeup remover in a BLUE bottle) is amazing and consists of two liquids that sit on top of eachother-- You have to always shake the bottle and then use it (JUST LIKE LANCOMES!)

I highly recommend it, especially since it's the same consistency as the Lancome eye makeup remover. If it gets in your eyes it never stings and even removes Waterproof makeup.

It also takes off my CoverGirl Lashblast Waterproof within 1-3 sweeps and its known for being a pain to take off! I REALLLY REAALLLYY REALLLY recommend this makeup remover!
P.S it comes in a blue bottle too! :P

hi blair
i'm french, i live in paris so i don't know all the brands you have in the US. I think what matters most than the brand is really the type of makeup remover you use, i mean if it is lotion or soap or liquid. IMO there is absolutely no doubt that creamy milky makeup remover lotions, simply applied with cotton, work much better than those "double action", "dual-phase" blue liquid solutions that are ironically made especially for the eyes. Regular makeup remover lotion/cream just works better. Try it once, i swear it's true !
À bientôt ;)

I use Mac's oil off makeup remover since I haven't found one in the drugstore that works as well. It gets off all of my makeup, including the eye area with no stinging. Also, if you have oily skin it's best to use oil products as weird as that sounds.

something that i've found that really works is baby shampoo. i use it like i would a soap on my face but it also works on my eyes because its for babies and they have sensitive eyes. so its ok to put it on your eyes.

I use either ponds cold cream (amazing, but has a stronger smell and leaves my skin kind of oily) or doir's "lait démaquillant doucer" (softening cleansing milk). The second one is better for cleaning your face with, not amazing (but still good) for eye make-up. And the first specializes in cleansing eye makeup off. I have never had a problem with either and find that by using both or alternating, I can get the job done quickly and efficiently. Especially on days of dance recitals and things.

I once tried the L'Oreal Eye Makeup Remover, but it didn't work for me either. It didn't take my make-up off, even though I may have used ten cotton balls!

I also swear by Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover. I like it very much. It makes your make-up disintegrate quickly. Pretty much disappear.

I love Lumene's remover for waterproof make-up! It's great and doesn't irritate the sensitive eye area. You should give it a try!

I do cheerleading so i need to get it off after comps for school so i really need to find a good make up remover :)

I've tried them all! But only one has ever totally worked! "Simple conditioning eye make-up remover" is THE BEST! a drugstore product which is only £2-3. Its fab!! Its takes everything off and leave my eyes so soft.

Anonymous said...

hey blair! i found the most perfect make up remover! well on the bottle it says for eyes so i guess you should probably use this for eyes only! the name of it is: Maybelline New York Expert Eyes eye makeup remover. long name i know =) it's also a drugstore brand!! IT WORKS SO AMAZINGLY!!!!!! trust me !! i was using one from L'Oreal too but it didn't work!! hope u found this helpful!!

Try Make Up forever... It works awesome.. You can buy at Sephora. A bit pricey but worth it... I wear Japanese 24hr waterproof liner and mascara which is super difficult to strip off. But leave this on for a few seconds and you can pretty much wipe it off.

Vikki said...

Try Ultra Bland from Lush for removing your eye makeup! It works amazing, and gets every speck of eyeliner, shadow, mascara ect, even waterproof! I just put a bit of warm water on my eye, rub a bit of Ultra Bland around and then wipe away with a wet cotton pad. I wouldn't recommend using it for your entire face though because it does leave a bit of a residue behind. (The residue is fine for your eyes because its very moisturizing, however it wouldn't be good on your entire face, especially if your prone to break outs! For my face make up I just wash my face with Spectro Gel before I use my other cleanser. This also gets every speck of make up off!

I love Neutrogena Extra Gentle Eye Makeup remover or any garnier product, especially the anti-tighteness cleansing milk :D

Unknown said...

I like the Simple one - not sure if you can get Simple products in the US though? In UK they're really inexpensive.

I always use Cetaphil to take off all my make up.

I use either the "Pom Pon" wipes or the "Johnson's 3 in 1" wipes.
Yesterday, I saw an advertisement of a new, improved Johnson's wipes, so as soon as I consume the ones I have, i'm gonna buy it!

Btw, I am a greek fan of you! :D

Olive oil works great. It's natural and condition your eye area well. It won't clog your pores

Cristina said...

My fav is Bourjois. I don't even leave it on my eyes for a few seconds before wiping and it still does the trick.

Kiirsti said...

I love love love the Neutrogena Oil-free Eye Makeup Remover. It's at any drugstore for less than $10 and if you go to CVS and get the CVS brand it works exactly the same for $1-2 cheaper. Give it a go, I thing you'll like it.

Becca said...

I love the Neutrogena make-up remover wipes. I find wipes to be much more practical and easy to use. You just grab one out of the package and there you go. You don't have to worry about having cotton balls and such.

I use St. Ives that comes in a squeze bottle its white and has like green ivey looking vines going across the top and the awesome thing about it its a makeup remover/facial cleanser!! its awesome!!! I've been using it for a long time! You should try it!!

Drugstore brand would be Neutragena and dept store is Clinique take the day off makeup remover. Try the Clinque, it is unbelievable!!!!!

I use the Clinique eye makeup remover! It's no drugstore, but I thought I would say since I love it for what it does! ( :

I use the loreal sensitive eye makeup remover and it works fine for me! :)

Skylar said...

I love the Clean and Clear Oil Free eye make up remover! It works like a charm and I've already gone through three bottles (over a period of almost two years mind you :) Plus they're around five or six dollars at target, so who can go wrong with that price :D Also I found that the little bottles of eye make up remover that sometimes come free with other Clean and Clear products are AWESOME for keeping in your make up bag! Then you can touch up on the go :D

Stevista said...

My fave eye makeup remover is the Garnier Clean Sensitive duo phase one! It works great! :)

Unknown said...

I too tried to L'oreal one and it gave me the same problem, it takes at least 5 cotton balls to get all of the makeup off and that's even washing your face first!
But I tried another drug store one, Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. It gave me the same problems.
Now with eye makeup remover I usually just splurge for the more expensive kinds.

Anonymous said...

I love my l'oreal eye makeup remover but it comes in a green bottle so I didn't actually know that they had a blue bottle as well. But the green one I think is awesome because it gets all of the makeup right away.

CJ said...

I did this same thing. I love the bi-facil from Lancome, but it is pricey ($35 here in Canada). So I opted for the l'Oreal one too, because it was recommended to me. It sort of almost gets my eye make-up off, but not all of it. It also leaves my eyes feeling really abused because of how much effort it takes to get the make-up off. I definitely won't be buying it again.

Anonymous said...

theres one of l'oreal that come with blue water and take everything off SO good. you may go google for this L'oreal Gentle Lip And Eye Make-Up Remover.
another is from botanics available in boots. both arent irritating.
i fing it the best in drugstore price ;)

Pauline said...

i loove the bodyshop one, its ammaaazzzzinnng, im not sure of pte prices in the us, i got mine for free. i know that sometimes they have a by 1 get 1 free offer :)

Saf ♥ said...

I've used this too and I've had the same experiences! I didn't actually have to spend the $8.99 since it was a "free gift" with the L'Oreal face wash that I purchased. Keep up the great work!

Elizabeth said...

Um.. this one actually works for me O.o I mean cause I actually wipe it off and not let it sit on my eyes for how ever long. Then I take a cotton swab then remove the rest of the eyeliner that this doesn't remove... but I guess it's cause I don't wear as much makeup as you? I dunno... And it leaves my eyes feeling cool and refreshed.. is it just me? o.o

Mackenzie said...

I use olive oil, or jojoba oil! It does a great job and it's super inexpensive too! You should try it blair!

Hey Blair,

I just found something that I didn't realize would be a good remover and it is from Alba and its called un-petroleum jelly. If you watch Kandee Johnson you may have heard of it. She rubs it all over her face before bed to lock in moisture but when I read the back it said it removes eye makeup. So I put some on a cotton ball and off went my eye makeup super easy. It's awesome stuff not to mention it's great for the eyes with aging too. :) I got mine at my Sunflower Farmers Market but I'm sure you can get it online or elsewhere.

Becca said...

my favorite is the neutrogena oil free makeup remover...but i just recently bought this all natural organic physicians formula one and it works pretty well! (but i dont really wear as much makeup as you so you might not find the same results)

Melissa Jeanne said...

Hey Blair,
I really love Lush's ultrabland cause it's no joke at getting rid of heavy duty makeup...it can be a bit much for oiler skin but if it's just for eye makeup it should be fine.

Lili said...

I really like the yes to carrots eye make up remover. It's a cream and organic.

megan said...

avon's eye makeup remover! it's $2, isn't greasy, great for sensitive skin, lasts forever, gets everything off, and you don't even need water! i've raved about it to all of my friends and after seeing all of the makeup that it's gotten off of me--they quickly went out and bought it and like it as well!

Anonymous said...

neutrogena make up remover and target up & up brand makeup remover is good!!!!!!! and CHEAP!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I love Chanel's Gentle Biphase Eye Makeup remover! It removes every trace of eye makeup quickly and in one swipe. I'm not sure how much you wanted to spend on eye makeup remover, but it is $32.Honestly, it's worth it. It's like a mini spa treatment for your eyes and makes your whole face feel refreshed. Clinique and Neutrogena also have a pretty good ones as well

Anonymous said...

I love the other l'oreal makeup remove it's in a different shaped bottle and I'ts lasted me forever. I one that you have to shake to mix the two formulas together. I think it's called- "gentle eye makeup remover for waterprof makeup" or something like that. I find that makeup remover for waterproof makeup always works better.

Unknown said...

BOBBI BROWN REGULAR EYE MAKEUP REMOVER IS AMAZING.
A DRUGSTORE BRAND I'VE FOUND TO WORK IS THE MAYBELLINE ONE theres a pink and blue. pink is the more oily one that removes waterproof and i personally dont like that oily residue most makeup removers have so i prefer the blue one which does the job just as well but doesn't have the oily residue.
XOXO enjoy

I just started using a new CVS brand remover. It's supposed to be like neutrogena, just cheaper. It's oil free and removes make up instantly. I have to say that I have not had great experiences with Almay pads. Neutrogena is great and the CVS brand one is basically the same thing.

Anonymous said...

I use Almay's moisturizing eye makeup remover liquid i think it conditions my lashes they feel great afterwards and it's really inexpensive so i'd give it a shot :)

Unknown said...

I just use baby huggies sensitive baby wipes to remove my makeup...I have done it for years! I pay 10 bucks for a big box of them and it lasts forever. lol

Grace Kimberly said...

I like using Bye Bye Makeup's eye makeup remover. It smears at first, but then when you wipe it off, it comes off like a dream. It was a birthday present. My mom got it @ TJMaxx

My absolute fav make-up remover of all time has to be the one Ive used now for many many years. Its from Yves Rocher and it is in a dark blue bottle ;)
It is called Démaquillant Douceur yeux A la Camomille (eyemake-up remover with camomille)
I LOVE IT. It removes the eye make-up instantly :)
Yves Rocher also sells another make-up remover that is in a transparent bottle, the liquid is half white and half blue. You are supposed to shake the bottle so the two components mix. IT IS AWFUL.. it does not work at all :(

take care
hugs

Any make-up remover actually changes the pH of your skin, so using it isn't all that great for you. I use olive oil, and it comes off right away! I know it sounds gross, but it really does the trick, especially with hard-to-remove waterproof eye make-up. It also conditions your lashes, so it's like hitting two birds with one stone right? (uhh, maybe not that brutal, but you get my point haha). I got this tip from Michelle Phan's YouTube video. You should try it out! :)

Addy said...

I use Andrea EyeQ's. They are soft swabs for $4 that quickly get the job done. They're pretty oily, but for my extremely dry skin by the time I wake up the next morning my eye area is perfectly moisturized.

Nicole said...

Olay! They have this amazing makeup remover, it works best for mascara. Anyways, it's in a tall purple tube and it comes out looking like lotion. It's amazing, and only around 10.00$ which is great, because I usually use this Clinique one which with tax is close to $30.00! :)

Mariam said...

I don't know about that one but I use Loreal dermo-expertise gentle lip and eye make-up remover for waterproof make-up for a looong time! like 5 years I think and I love it! It's far the best I've had!

Hey Blair, I know what you mean the loreal makeup remover is not good at all! Personally I have tried the Lancome Bifacial which is good, but there is a drugstore dupe which in my opinion is better than the lancome makeup remover! It's the Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-up Remover. Personally I only use waterproof mascara and it takes it off no problem! You should check it out before you get a new lancome one. I believe it costs about $12 (in Canada at least).

Unknown said...

Get the one in the green bottle. It removes waterproof makeup, and it does it EXTREMELY well :))

Anonymous said...

use cotton pads with it! trust me this makeup remover works, i've been using it for years u just need to dab it on your eye more not just lay it there, lol. cotton balls are really good.
goodluck! try it and let me know how it works!

Anonymous said...

absolutely love the clean and clear soothing eye makeup remover. the makeup comes off so effortlessly and doesn't irritate my eyes

Anonymous said...

I use the waterproof makeup one and it works great for me. So I wonder if just the blue one is no good? Cause I use CoverGirl Lash Blast mascara the waterproof one and it is such a toughy to get off. But the waterproof remover one works really good! Better than all the other ones I've tried. So yeah :]

Anonymous said...

my fave drug store eye makeup remover is the covergirl clean one for eyes and lips, it comes in a little white bottle.. it is a godsend! i totally recommend it to you blair :)

Anonymous said...

I use the Neutrogena eye makeup remover. Its awesome.. sensitive to the eyes and comes off easily with a cotton ball. The best drug store eye makeup reomover I have tried.

Anonymous said...

get sonia kashuk's one from target. at $10 its really good.ive tried nutrogena, bodyshop, l'oreal, almay and this is really the best one. you only need a little bit on either cotton pad or cotton ball. and it wipes all makeup even waterproof makeup instantly. im never buying anything else.

TRY NEUTROGENA FRESH FOAMING CLEANSER JUST RUB IT OVER UR EYES AND THE MAKEUP IS GONE AND IT ALSO CLEANS UR FACE MAKEUP SO THATS A PLUS

Anonymous said...

Try the Sephora eye make-up remover; it works just as well as the Lancome Bi-Facil and it's cheaper.

I use the Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover and it really works, even with waterproof mascara. Also its really gentle (it has cucumber and aloe vera extract), it says its safe for contact lenses users. Oh, and its the dual-phase kind.
Hope that helps!

I really like the Body Shops eye makeup remover! For my face I just use makeup wipes, I use them on my eyes when I am not wearing much makeup too.

Samantha C said...

The Neutrogena Oil Free Makeup Remover is awesome - it's the best eye makeup remover I've ever used (I was a fan of the Lancome remover as well), and it's cheap! It has the double layer, but unlike Lancome it's oil free, yet it gets off everything so well!!

Anonymous said...

Hahaha, I have never in my life heard of an eye makeup remover you could just hold on to your eye and it would magically take off your eye makeup. You have to kind of rub/swipe it off! If you use the L'Oreal stuff properly it works just fine, my only issue with it is that it makes my eyes ridiculously dry. Still not a great product, but it does work! :P

Brittany said...

Hey Blair! :)

I use Neutrogena's Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes and they remove everything! Waterproof eye makeup, foundation, blush....like I said, EVERYTHING! They're really cheap, (just about 5 dollars at Walmart) and the coolest part is that you can see everything you take off. You'll see the concealer or eye liner when you wipe it off. You only have to use one little towelette at night and I honestly love it! After I'm done removing my makeup, I feel refreshed, because it doesn't leave an oily film or anything like that. So then I go wash my face.

I use "Clinique Take the Day Off for lids, lashes, and lips". I'm almost out actually! I need to get some more. I believe it's about $18-21, not sure of the actual price. I think I'll pick up one at my CCO to save a few bucks though!

Haylie K said...

I hate the Loreal one! I also feel like it's water! I was so happy when I accidentally knocked it over so half of it spilled. Less for me to use up :)
But I love the nutrogena one- it feels a bit oily , even though it says oil-fee, but at least it removes my makeup!

Anonymous said...

I have the almay eye makeup remover. i think its like 7 $ and it works really well and it doesnt leave any oily residue or anything! glad i could help(:

Anonymous said...

the neutrogena eye makeup remover works AWESOME ; def. try itttt.

Oh my gosh! THE best makeup remover I have EVER owned is from Mary Kay. It is seriously THE best thing created for removing makeup!! It is magic, I swear. And it's in a huge bottle, and I think it was only like, $7.00. Which is SO cheap! Almost everything from MaryKay is a decent price. Their eye shadow is pretty pricey, but I really only buy mascara, makeup remover, and acne cream(which also works AMAZINGLY!!) :)

Ali said...

I use the Equate knockoff of the Loreal remover and it works great for me. I do think it's designed more for eyeshadow and such than for eyeliner/mascara, etc., but it does the job for me. I think it might be a little stronger just because it's a knock off and they can be a little harsher, but nonetheless, I like it. =]

Anonymous said...

hahahahaa I had the l'oreal eye makeup remover before 'cause I had gotten it for free from buying one of the mascaras a long time ago and I didn't like it either, but I hate throwing things away so I used it to clean my dresser and it worked pretty well that way haha!
It's probably bad for the wood, but whatever lol.

Anonymous said...

Hey Blair!

So, I've been using these Almay Make-Up remover Pads and I found that they work amazingly well! Only one swipe each on the top and bottom of you eye removes all traces of makeup :) Granted, you may have to tug on your eye a bit, but it's worth it! Another thing I like to do is use Vaseline to remove eyeliner from my waterline. I simply dip a Q-tip in Vaseline, and slowly and carefully run it on my waterline.
